Safeguarding Statement
Last updated: 1 June 2026
Michelle Wells is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all adults who engage with her services, including those receiving psychological therapy, EMDR treatment, CBT, and clinical supervision.
Michelle Wells is an Accredited EMDR Consultant, BABCP-accredited CBT therapist, EMDR therapist, and clinical supervisor. As a sole practitioner, she holds personal responsibility for safeguarding decisions, actions, and referrals arising within her private practice.
The practice recognises that clients and supervisees may disclose or show signs of abuse, neglect, vulnerability, or risk during the course of therapeutic or supervisory work, and all such concerns are taken seriously.
Michelle Wells works with adults. However, disclosures about children or vulnerable adults may arise during therapy or supervision, and these will be treated seriously and responded to appropriately.
Confidentiality is respected at all times, but it is not absolute. Information may be shared without consent where there is a risk of serious harm to the individual or others, where a child or vulnerable adult may be at risk, or where disclosure is required by law or professional duty.
If a safeguarding concern arises, appropriate action will be taken. This may include seeking consultation, signposting to support services, or making a referral to relevant external agencies such as social care services, the police, or other appropriate professionals.
Michelle Wells maintains appropriate safeguarding awareness and undertakes regular professional supervision and continuing professional development to support safe and ethical practice.
Please note that I do not provide a crisis or emergency service and I am not able to offer urgent or out-of-hours support. If you require urgent assistance, you should contact your GP, use NHS 111 online or call 111 and select the mental health option, call Samaritans on 116 123, or, if there is an immediate risk to life or you do not feel able to keep yourself or another person safe, call 999 or attend the nearest Accident and Emergency Department.
If you have a safeguarding concern relating to this practice, please contact Michelle Wells at hello@drmichellewells.co.uk.
